2008 Election

Taking a break from trying to finish my essay (due in 3 hours)! Over the last month I don’t think a day goes by without a conversation concerning the upcoming election. I’m not thrilled about either candidate. What I find most interesting about this election is that so many of my friends aren’t saying who they’re voting for, myself included. It’s like we all skirt around the issue. I can’t remember an election ever like that and just hope that the election isn’t like this one.

Almost There

I survived my annual work conference. I worked 45 hours in four days but I forgot all about my exhaustion when my five year-old practically knocked me over with hugs and kisses and wouldn’t let me go. My 7 year-old was happy to see me but I forgot it wasn’t not cool to hug or kiss your mom in front of friends. So,I said forget your embarassment kid, I’m hugging and kissing on you. Thankfully his coolness slipped away and he hugged/kissed me back. My husband who I love dearly took care of the boys just fine except for the fact that he didn’t give them a shower or bath for FOUR days. How gross is that. Needless to say they were in the bath for an hour tonight. Anyway, glad to be home and am looking forward to going to bed when my boys do. I have a paper due on Sunday that I’ve barely focused on!

Housing Market

I’m not a naive person and realize just how bad the housing market is and how many people got in over their heads or have lost their jobs and are now losing their homes. So many people people in my subdivision took out interest only mortgages because they couldn’t afford to buy their home if they had traditional 30 year fixed rate mortgages. It’s sad to see that four years later they are not at all ahead on their mortgages and with our high real estate tax bills, still others likely to lose their homes because they can’t afford to pay the taxes. I had my mind totally blown this weekend when we had a friend look to buy in our subdivision and they picked our model and got $60,000 in free upgrades. When all was said and done, they got more house than us and it’s $25,000 cheaper! I’m glad for them but boy did that blow my mind and honestly, tick me off!

General Thoughts

Woke up anxious to get some homework and work for the office out of the way so I can enjoy a beautiful afternoon with family. My husbands aunt has flown in from Florida so we’re having a family get together and hopefully I can talk everyone into taking a nice long walk together while the boys ride their bikes. School and daycare are closed tomorrow so I’m forced (which I’m glad about) to take the day off from work. I’m glad these things happen since I don’t feel I spend enough quality time with Nicholas and Nathan. We are headed to the pumpkin patch with my sisters and girlfriends and it’s going to be beautiful weather. So, nothing but a nice two days for me. Of course have to pay the piper and get some work out of the way this morning so I can truly enjoy the day tomorrow. Hope everyone can get out and enjoy the warm weather today.

Half Day

Looking forward to a half day in the office tomorrow, followed by a department outing of bocce ball. I’ve never played before and hear it’s an “art” according to the experts that I work with. Sure hope I can pick up the “art” real fast!

Free Day

Woke up happy to know that this is a “free day” with no real urgent matters to get taken care of or anyone to see. We can have a great family today and it’s going to be great. What makes it even better is that the rain we were supposed wake up to isn’t here. Yeah!

New Movie

Last weekend I saw the movie Eagle Eye that just came out. It wasn’t what I expected but the action was non-stop and the two hours flew by. I’d recommend it as a date night movie (even thought I went with a girlfriend).

Excited!

I’m so excited that it’s Thursday night and my husband is back from his four day business trip tomorrow night. After my five year-old has missed three days of school and made two trips to the Dr. with a bad cold and asthma issues, he finally seems to be getting better and I’m so happy and thankful. Now it’s time to get some homework and my real job work done so am expecting another late night. I can’t wait for my husband to get up with the boys while I sleep in on Saturday. So, I have a lot to be excited about!

Sick Kids

Why does it always seem that (my) kids get sick on Sunday evening, just in time for the school and week to start. Hard as it would be, I’d rather cancel a weekend of plans with people thanlay awake Sunday night hoping they’ll be ok in the morning and trying to figure out how we (my husband and I) negotiate whose got a bigger work day on Monday at work.

Excitement In Our House

Our boys don’t know it yet but we’re surprising them with kittens when they get home from school today. I’m going to try and attempt downloading the video of their reactions and send in a new blog this weekend. I’m sure it will be nothing short of hysterical since they ask for cats on an almost daily basis. They are going to flip out!
